Farewell Party @ AussieBar 18th of December 2008

G'day mates!

Welcome to my blog, friends and strangers! I will be updating here weekly of how life down under in Australia is flowing, so stay tuned if you wish to know the latest news!

I want to thank all of you who made it to my farewell party, I had absolutely terrific time with ya all! To those who weren't able to attend, here are some of the juicy bits... :)

We started in laid-back aussie style chilling out and chatting along, until most of us had arrived. Lemon, Lime & Bitters must have been the favourite of the night! Only a few people had the guts to obey the dresscode which was Aussie beach style, here are pictures of these brave friends of mine who do not take themselves too seriously :) Good job guys, loved it!

To melt the ice walls between different groups of people, we had an Australia quiz with mixed teams! After some tricky questions team "Hi5" collected the best score and won the quiz with 9/10. Anyhow everyone was a winner since all got to try some Australian flavours.. It started with having a laugh with Minties, Australian
lollies that have gleeful pranks on their wrappings! I quess everyone enjoyed them equally, but then meanie Päivi had something far more tasty in store for everyone...

It was Vegemite time!!! Vegemite is very typical and popular toast spread in Australia and kids there absolutely adore their Vegemite. They would happily live with Vegemite toasties only if they had the choice! Vegemite is made from leftover brewers' yeast extract, from a by-product of beer manufacturing, and the taste is very salty. I couldn't describe the response people had on it so I better just show you some pure emotions... :D

Yes, it apparently was something they had never had before! :)

I also had the honour to have a surprise guest, Elisa,my friend whom I first met in Australia! It was a happy reunion of the Sydney's Fantastic Four!

...and what would life be like without my high school powerpuff girls?
I don't dare to think about it! I'm going to miss you <3<3

When other guests started heading home, we had some "lap dancing" going on among the nursing students since there were not enough seats.. This is what the nurse students came up with!

Since Minttu kindly offered her lap for me to, I kinda had to pass on the kindness to Unckle Joe! And since love was in the air, our very own Günther also found a comfortable spot..

All in all, it was an awesome night, and it just reminded me of how much I will miss you all!

Thanks for being there and we'll defenitely keep in touch; you ain't getting rid of me this easy! :)

Lots of Love,
P
